Chapter 6: What My Grandmother Taught Me

Chapter 6: What My Grandmother Taught Me

Some people have a way of making every house feel like home.

My grandmother was one of those people.

When I think of her, I don't think about things she owned or places she went.

I think about how she made people feel.

Safe.

Loved.

Like family was the most important thing in the world.

Because to her...

It was.

She taught me that no success in life could ever replace the people who sit around your dinner table.

She reminded me that the greatest wealth a person can have isn't measured in dollars.

It's measured in relationships.

In laughter shared across generations.

In holidays that become traditions.

In memories that stay with us long after the day has passed.

But she also taught me something that has stayed with me my entire life.

If you love something...

Don't stop doing it just because you're not the best at it.

Do it because it makes you happy.

Whether it was a hobby, a dream, or simply something that brought a smile to your face, she believed joy was never something to be embarrassed about.

She taught me that life isn't about impressing other people.

It's about finding what makes your heart come alive and having the courage to keep doing it.

Looking back now, I realize she was teaching me something much bigger than happiness.

She was teaching me authenticity.

She was teaching me to protect the things that bring meaning to life.

Today, when I build a keepsake for another family, I often think about her.

Because I know those boxes won't just hold photographs or mementos.

They'll hold pieces of a family's story.

The same kind of story my grandmother taught me to cherish.

Thank you, Grandma.

You taught me that family isn't just the most important part of life...

It is the heart of it.
