Chapter 12: What Kinsley Taught Me

Chapter 12: What Kinsley Taught Me

Some people have a way of making the world feel a little brighter.

My youngest daughter, Kinsley, is one of those people.

She has taught me that sometimes its hard to slow down.

But when we do we need to notice the little things.

To find beauty in places most people never think to look.

Children have an incredible way of seeing the world.

They're amazed by things adults often walk right past.

A butterfly landing on a flower.

The colors of a sunset.

The sound of rain against the windows.

A funny-shaped cloud.

A flower growing through a crack in the sidewalk.

Those little moments remind them that the world is still full of wonder.

Kinsley has never lost that gift.

What amazes me most isn't that she finds beauty when life is easy.

It's that she finds beauty even when life is hard.

No matter how dark the day may seem...

She somehow finds the light.

Watching her has reminded me that happiness isn't something we stumble across.

It's something we choose to notice.

Because of Kinsley, I've learned that some of life's greatest memories aren't created during the biggest moments.

They're created during the quiet ones.

The bedtime stories.

The walks outside.

The unexpected laughs.

The hugs that last just a little longer than usual.

The ordinary moments that quietly become extraordinary memories.

That lesson has changed the way I live my life.

It has changed the way I love my family.

And it has changed the way I build every keepsake that leaves my workshop.

Because every memory deserves to be noticed.

Every smile deserves to be remembered.

And every life is filled with beautiful little moments that are far too precious to forget.

Thank you, Kinsley.

Thank you for reminding me that no matter how dark life may seem...

There is always something beautiful waiting to be found.
